Kiehls – Ultra Facial Oil Free Cleanser and Moisturizer Review

Combination or Oily skin? Can’t find the right cleanser? Then maybe Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Oil Free range will suit your needs!

Since 1851, Kielhs, NY,  has had a long reign of manufacturing skin and hair care products.  With a large variety of products to suit each customer’s needs, Kiehl’s seeks to be one of the leading skin care labels in the world. Classed in the same legion as other well known labels such as Clinique and Clarins, product prices are relatively cheap and of high quality.

1. Ultra Facial Oil Free Cleanser @$26AUD/150mL

A quick lathering cleansing foam, this cleanser aims to thoroughly clean your skin, removing impurities and excess oil on the face. Containing Imperata Cylincdrica (desert plant extract) and lemon extract, these ingredients claim to leave the skin clean and refreshed, without over drying. Also, the cleanser does not contain fragrance, therefore suitable for sensitive skin.

Despite the claims made by Kiehl’s, this cleanser over cleans the face, causing skin to feel tight and dry after cleansing. Although it removes impurities, skin doesn’t really feel refreshed and smooth, instead a feeling of “over-cleansed” Unless your skin is overly oily, then maybe this cleanser isn’t the right choice for you! 2. Ultra Facial Oil Free Moisturizer @$34AUD/50mL

A gel texture moisturizer, this product is a perfect supplement for oily skin. Containing Imperata Cylindrica (desert plan extract),  Vitamin E and Antarctacine, this moisturizer claims to hydrate the skin, prevent dryness and shield the skin from the damaging effects of free radicals.

Retains moisture in skin? Sort of. Reduces the production of excess oil? Not really… This moisturizer may hydrate the skin, however that may only be the only benefit. Cons? This moisturizer feels slightly sticky after applying on skin, despite it’s gel texture. Also, skin doesn’t feel smoothed out and refreshed, although Kiehl’s claims state the opposite. For a full moisturizing effect, this product may meet your needs.  For excess oil reduction and smoother skin, maybe not so!

Rating: 5.5/10

A nice range of products. Although it may not suit everybody’s skin, the concept behind the product is fantastic. Maybe more development into this range… and it could provide better results!
